Dairy Farmers

Successful divestment of Dairy Farmers to National Foods.

Henslow advised in the divestment of Australia’s second largest fresh dairy company to National Foods, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kirin Holdings. The $910.0m acquisition helped National Foods expand their distribution channels and develop a stronger brand portfolio through its offering of fresh dairy products. The transaction was instrumental to Kirin’s long term group vision of being a leading company within the Australian food and beverage industry. During the bidding process, National Foods outbid Canadian dairy firm Saputo (TSE:SAP) and Singapore based company Parmalat (SGX:O32).

A partnership transforming the dairy industry

Established in 1900, Dairy Farmers is a well-loved Australian brand with over 1,800 employees spread over 12 major facilities nationwide. Before being acquired by National Foods in 2008, the company restructured in 2005 and separated the FMCG business from the milk supply co-operative.
