Electro Optic Systems (ASX:EOS) completes acquisition of new interceptor capability from MARSS Group
Oaklins Henslow, together with Oaklins France, is pleased to have acted as corporate advisor to Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (ASX:EOS) on the completed acquisition of the UK based interceptor business from MARSS Group.
Electro Optic Systems is an Australian defence and space technology company listed on the ASX that designs, manufactures and supports advanced remote weapon systems, counter drone and directed energy solutions, space domain awareness sensors and satellite communication systems for customers in Australia, the United Kingdom and other allied markets.
The interceptor is an advanced kinetic counter drone effector that uses imaging sensors, infrared seekers and AI based guidance to track and defeat high speed drones at extended ranges. Once integrated, it is expected to sit alongside EOS’ remote weapon systems and high energy laser solutions as part of a layered counter drone offering, providing customers with additional options where cost, collateral risk and agility are critical.
Under the transaction, EOS has acquired all interceptor assets and employ the specialist engineering team that developed the system. The initial purchase price was €5.5m approximately A$10m, and has been funded from EOS’ existing cash reserves, with EOS intending to invest up to a further A$10m over the next three years to complete development and industrialisation.
The interceptor is expected to:
- Broaden EOS’ counter drone effector portfolio and complement existing remote weapon systems and laser effectors
- Offer a lower unit cost alternative to traditional missiles and rockets
- Provide low collateral engagement suitable for complex operational environments including urban and critical infrastructure settings
- Extend EOS’ software and AI capabilities and support its presence in the United Kingdom, an important AUKUS partner market
